Nude

TheatreSolo showNew writing

'No, but how funny would it be though? Like, he turns up, and it’s just me – with my tits out. His model student.' Clara has a plan. It involves a life drawing class, her favourite lecturer and stripping naked in front of a room full of strangers. What could go wrong? A lot, it turns out. Funny and devastating, Nude is a solo play about desire, fantasy and the seductive idea that being seen is the same as being empowered.

Glorious, inventive, late-night knees-up! A resplendent ceremony in an air-conditioned room! More than two magnificent hours of ridiculous displays of comedic enterprise, dancing and frolicking. All guided by Mister Thom Tuck - 'fruity, befuddled and increasingly melancholy' (Guardian) - before onward carriages at your own discretion. All thirteen performances will be precisely unique. Permitted heckles! Delightful atmosphere! Umpteen guests, engaged in edifying experimentation! Noble failure, guaranteed. Come by! Performed by concert pianist Ailsa Aitkenhead, this deeply moving piano recital takes us on a journey from sorrow to hope. Chopin's dark and dramatic first ballade is contrasted with Schubert's profound and hopeful final sonata. Comedians deliver micro-presentations with a twist. Each PowerPoint has exactly 18 slides, and each slide advances automatically after 20 seconds. Every day, a fresh lineup gives talks on science, history, tapirs or whatever else their nerdy passion may be. Expect neurotransmitters, war heroes and Pokémon. The final talk is a mystery slideshow, where comedians improvise as "experts" (heavy quotation marks) on slides that they have never seen before. Follow on Instagram for updates on each day's topics and speakers. ‘Never before will you have learnt so much from a comedy show’ (TheMagdalen.com).

A powerful new piece of verbatim theatre, inspired by the wartime diary of Welsh paratrooper Neville Neads, captured during the 1944 operation of the same name. Offering a raw, personal perspective on war, identity and survival as a prisoner of war, the show centres the real testimony of the often-overlooked foot soldier. This is a story of resilience and remembrance, told from the ground up. Drawn directly from Neads’ own diary and letters to his fiancée, the production traces his experience and that of his comrades during almost a year in captivity.

ADEY

Spoken WordArtist(s) of colourSolo show

Having graduated from drama school in 2023, Bethlehem is now navigating one of the toughest industries by herself – but she's never truly alone. Living at home with her traditional Eritrean mother Tsehaynesh, Bethlehem doesn't know what privacy is! Being a stoic woman of culture, Tsehaynesh struggles to understand Bethlehem's career in the arts. To make matters worse, something drastic happens to Bethlehem, meaning she'll have to work harder than ever. ADEY is a heartfelt semi-autobiographical play which combines spoken word, music and movement to transport us from vibrant West Green Road, Tottenham to palm tree covered Asmara, Eritrea.

Witches Corner
0% sold out

Witches Corner is a comedic socio-political play written by Eilidh Smith with original songs composed by Rona Johnston. Born out of injustice and a burning desire for more female-led storytelling, Witches Corner explores the fear of feminine power and the misogynistic roots of the witch trials. Challenging gender-based stereotypes and asking the question – are women still on trial today? Step into the shoes of both the accuser and the accused. Would you follow the crowd, be a bystander or stand up for what is right? Witches Corner will leave you aching for justice.
